What has been the best part of your role?
I am working cross-functionally with several departments at OpenSesame. No day is the same. My projects are always shifting to meet our goals with a primary objective of curating and managing a portfolio of elearning courses and publishers across the globe focused on building diverse and inclusive workforces.

How has OpenSesame changed since you’ve joined?
I started when we were in the old building with very small teams. We’ve grown so much in both size and process. We are much more strategic than we were when we first started. We’ve also expanded our customer support hours to match our global client needs.

In what ways have you been supported by the OpenSesame team or culture?
Each employee has weekly one-on-one meetings with our managers to discuss how things are going, check in on our promotions, and voice any concerns. I’ve never felt afraid to speak my mind to my manager or the whole team about anything I think is important. My voice is always heard.

How has life changed for your role since the pandemic?
OpenSesame decided early on to do whatever we could to allow the public to access content around “COVID Preparedness” and “Wellness” — for free. That was huge. Things don’t usually change that rapidly. Not in eLearning. We were dealing with shifting priorities and trying to do the right thing for our community and the world.

How did you get into the field you’re in?
I’ve been an instructor and trainer of adult learners for — well, let’s just say a long time. I was initially a web developer and designer as a magazine art director. I was interested in teaching people new skills. That led to teaching adult learners at universities, corporations, and continuing education programs. From there, I got into online video instruction, teaching computer programming and managed an educational programming and video team. At OpenSesame, we review lots of visual footage; I bring a design eye to producing courses.
